Upload to Archival Service

Upload data using MFT

Before you begin to upload files using MFT, make sure that the MFT service subscription is enabled for your organization account.

To set up uploads using the MFT service:

Note Skip this procedure if you are not an account administrator.

  1. Go to the Archival service web portal, on the Permission & Namespace Management page, create a namespace for the data you plan to upload.
  2. Provide the required user groups with access to the created namespace.
  3. In the MFT service web portal, on the Connectivity Agreements page ( on the toolbar), select the Edifecs partner and assign required users to the Archive inbox.

To upload files to the Archival service using the MFT service:

  1. Go to https://mft.edifecsfedcloud.com/ and log on using your Smart Trading account credentials.
  2. Go to the Connections page ( on the toolbar) to download, install, and activate a user agent.
  3. -or-

    If you already have the agent installed, make sure it is active.

  4. Drop the file(s) you want to upload with the .properties file(s) to the following location in your file system: $MFTRoot/XESCloudMFTData/Organizational/Outgoing/edifecs/archive
  5. Note Make sure that an account administrator has assigned you to the Archive inbox.

    Alternately, you can also use the following directory to upload data: $MFTRoot/XESCloudMFTData/Personal/archive.app@edifecs/Outgoing

    Note Drop the .properties file before you drop the data file you want to archive.

Note that you can upload data to only those namespaces for which you have permissions to upload. Only an account administrator can create namespaces and manage access permissions for other users. You should specify a namespace in the .properties file that contains the metadata. If the namespace name is not available in the .properties file, then the data is stored to the namespace default.

After the MFT service completes the upload, you can view the uploaded data on the Archive List page of the Archival service web portal.

Note To upload data through an application user, your MFT agent must be activated for the application user.

Upload metadata

You can use additional information (metadata) with your file. This facilitates search for the required data in the Archival service. To add metadata to the file you plan to upload using the MFT service, you must include this metadata in the <NameOfYourTrasnmittedFile>.properties file. You can provide the following well-known properties as well as your custom name-value pairs:

Property Name-value pair Example
Creation Date - The actual creation date of the payload. createdDate=<ISO string or timestamp (ms)>

createdDate=2018-10-19T07:13:14.874Z

createdDate=1539933238095

Sender Name sender=<name> sender=JohnSmith
Partner Name partner=<name> partner=BestInsurer
Tracking Number trackingNumber=<number> trackingNumber=12345678
Business Object Type - The entity that represents a subject (file/transaction) processed by the external system (XEServer). businessObjectType= <name> businessObjectType= claim
Namespace - The logical buckets that organize archived data and allow you to manage permissions and lifetime policies appropriately for different groups of data files. namespace=<name> namespace=837

Note that a trackable parameter of metadata starts with cl_ prefix and has a higher priority in comparison with the parameter without the cl_ prefix. For example, when the .properties file contains both parameters: cl_namespace=837 and namespace=270, the Archival service stores the data file to the namespace 837.

You can also add your custom properties in the form of name-value pairs, that can help you search for data items in the Archival service web portal. To find data with a required property, enter the property value in the Search field.

Upload data using the Archival service web portal
