Permission and Namespace Management
Note If you are not an administrator, you can skip this section.
On the Permission & Namespace Management page (
on the toolbar), you can:
- Set access rules to namespaces for user groups.
- Create, edit, and clear namespaces.
Namespaces are logical buckets that Archival service uses to organize and group archived data. It also allows you to manage user access permissions and lifetime policies for different groups of data files.
Before you set user permissions to specific namespaces, go to your Smart Trading Cloud profile at https://auth.edifecsfedcloud.com/ (or click
on the left navigation bar and click Manage Organization Account) to create user groups and add users to them. For the instructions, click here.
After you have created user groups in your Smart Trading Cloud profile, you can give this user groups access to specific namespaces and select the type of access for each namespace (search, download, and/or upload).
Before you upload data files, you must create namespaces.
To create a namespace:
- On the Permission & Namespace Management page, click the Namespace Management tab.
- In Namespaces, click Create New.
- In Create Namespace, enter a name for the new namespace.
- Select Scan for viruses to enable antivirus check for the data that you upload to this namespace. If a malicious file is detected, it is placed to the quarantine namespace. If you do not want to loose the valuable information that the suspicious files contain, you can download the files back to your local drive and try to recover them. If you do not need the files of the quarantine namespace, you can purge this namespace or schedule automatic purge (see Step 5).
- Select Full-text search to make the contents of the files of this namespace searchable.
- Click Save.
- If you want to store the data files of this namespace for a limited period of time, click Edit, select Keep Data for ... Days, enter the number of days, and then click Save.
To set permissions for user groups to specific namespaces:
- On the Permission & Namespace Management page, click the Group Permissions tab, and then select the required user group.
- In the Manage Permissions section, click Edit, and then click Modify Namespace.
- In Modify Namespace, select the namespace(s) that you want to make available for a selected user group, and then click Apply.
- In the Manage Permissions section, select the access type(s) you want to make available for a selected user group (search, download, and/or upload).
- Click Save.
To see which user groups have access to the namespace and their access type, select the required namespace on the Namespace Management tab. The access rules information is available in the Permissions section.
To remove files from the namespace:
- On the Permission & Namespace Management page, click the Namespace Management tab.
- In Namespaces, select the namespace from where you want to remove data.
- In the right pane, click Edit.
- Click Purge all data of this namespace if you want to clear the contents of the namespace, and then click Yes.
-or-
Click Delete Namespace if you want to remove the namespace from the Archival service, and then click Yes.
