Case Study
The following case study shows you how to submit HL7 data to an XES Module for FHIR-powered, back-end system. In this scenario, XES Module for FHIR receives an HL7 data file, maps the data to the FHIR resource format, and stores the resources on the embedded FHIR server. The back-end system is represented by the HL7 CCD to FHIR route.
- After you have installed XES Module for FHIR, start the EdifecsXESModuleForFHIR Windows service to run the FHIR server and the Edifecs_XEServer_FHIR_Bridge Windows service to run the XEServer profile.
- Run the ${XESFHIRRoot}/bin/start-and-browse.bat file. The Edifecs XES Module for FHIR web portal page opens in your default browser.
- On the Edifecs XES Module for FHIR web portal page, create a new account, and then log on using your credentials.
- On the Patients tab, click Browse for HL7/CCD. Then, on your computer, navigate to the directory ${XESModuleForFHIR}/config/test-data/HL7 and upload an HL7 data file.
- Click Upload to submit your HL7 file.
After you submit the HL7 data file, the newly uploaded patient data becomes available on the Patients List.
