This profile has only one route that receives an 835 or 837 EDI document with the Explanation of Benefits (EOB) section, extracts the information about the services provided to a Patient, and uploads the EOB to a FHIR server in the form of an FHIR bundle.

• First, the profile validates the incoming EDI data file.
• Then, the profile converts EDI data to the FHIR format using special maps and guidelines that are distributed with EDIFECS HL7® FHIR® Standard. The profile can receive either 835 or 837 transactions as input - the profile selects the relevant map automatically.
• Finally, the profile POSTs the created FHIR bundle to a FHIR server using the FHIR System Action component.

After the profile processing is complete, a new FHIR resource called Explanation of Benefits appears on the Patient Details page in the timeline and in the form of a table:
