Work with Workspace Directory

Workspace is a common organization directory where an administrator:

  • creates and manages project folders and sub-folders and sets access permissions (full or read-only) to them for regular users,
  • grants administrator permissions for specific files and folders to coordinate collaboration between users and to make team work more efficient.

Regular users can access the files and folders that the administrator has shared with them in the Workspace directory, but cannot share these files and folders with others themselves. The users who get administrator permissions to specific artifacts can share the artifacts with other users, as well as change the sharing options defined by another administrator. For more information on how to share files and folders, see Share Files and Folders.

Files located at the Workspace directory have the following run-time path and work for all the users in the organization who have access to the file: repository:/workspace/Guidelines/101.ecs.

Note If you are not an administrator, you may skip the information below.

We recommend that administrators create specific project folders at the Workspace directory for users and set access permissions to them depending on the tasks a specific user performs. This approach helps manage an organization's working process more efficiently and helps avoid accidental access to important files. For more information on how to make optimal use of the Workspace directory, see Environment Promotion.
