Multi-factor authentication

To enhance the security of your account and the data you work with in the Smart Trading Cloud, configure multi-factor authentication (MFA) for your user account. This will require you not only to enter your user name and password when signing in to the Smart Trading Cloud services, but also to provide a verification code you receive on your trusted device.

To enable/disable multi-factor authentication for your user account:

Warning Edifecs do not recommend that you enable multi-factor authentication for your user account if you work with the Smart Trading Cloud artifacts through the following on-premise Edifecs applications:
- Edifecs Application Manager
- XEServer
- XEngine
- XES Module for FHIR
- SpecBuilder

  1. On the left navigation bar, click to open the My Profile pane.
  2. In Multi-factor authentication, use the toggle switch to turn multi-factor authentication on/off for your user account.
  3. Click Enable/Disable.

After you enable multi-factor authentication for your user account, you will be prompted to configure authentication next time you sign in to the Smart Trading Cloud.

To configure multi-factor authentication:

  1. On your device, go to the app store and install the authenticator application (FreeOTP or Google Authenticator).
  2. On your computer, go to any of your Smart Trading Cloud services or go to the Smart Trading Cloud home page at https://www.edifecsfedcloud.com and click Sign In.
  3. Enter your email address and click Next.
  4. Enter your password and click Next.
  5. Review the instructions on multi-factor authentication setup, select Scan the QR code or Enter the secret key manually, and then click Next.
  6. If you selected I will scan QR code, open the authenticator application on your device and scan the QR code displayed on the Smart Trading Cloud sign-in screen. Your authenticator application adds the account main(<yourEmail>) and generates a one-time six-digit password (OTP) that you have to enter without spaces on the Smart Trading Cloud sign-in screen in Enter Authenticator Code.
  7. - or -

If you selected I will enter secret key manually, in the authenticator application on your device, use the option to add a new account by a secret key, enter the secret key generated on the Smart Trading Cloud sign-in screen to your application without spaces. In the account name, enter main. Your application then generates a one-time six-digit password that you have to enter without spaces on the Smart Trading Cloud sign-in screen in Enter Authenticator Code.

  8. Click Login.

Note If the login timeout has expired, the Smart Trading Cloud regenerates the QR code and the secret key. In this case, remove the main account from your authenticator application and scan the new QR code or enter the new secret key to add the main account again.

If you need to reset your multi-factor authentication credentials (for example, in case you do not have access to your device anymore), contact your account administrator.
