Manage Environments
As an administrator, you can add and manage several logical environments in Smart Trading Cloud, such as a TEST or a DEV environment. This enables you to conduct testing activities for your organization across various environments.
While adding an environment, you must provide a short name for the environment, containing a maximum of four characters. The short name is displayed on the left navigation bar and it lets you identify the environment that you are currently logged into. The short name for the Production environment is PROD. If you already have an organization account on Smart Trading Cloud, you will see your default organization environment as the PROD environment. However, you can switch to other environment(s) based on your need.
When you, as an administrator, create an environment, Smart Trading Cloud:
- Copies the profile information (information about the organization details and contact) of the organization account to the newly created environment. This means that all the information on the Manage Organization Account page in the new environment would be the same as the PROD environment.
-
Displays Organization ID as the organization name for the PROD environment on the Manage Organization Account page. For example, if the Organization Name is “Health Plan,” then the Organization ID is “health.plan.” For other environments, such as TEST and DEV, the Account Service displays the organization ID as OrganizationName-EnvironmentShortName. When you switch from one environment to another (for example, from PROD to TEST), the organization name remains the same, but the organization ID changes to OrganizationName-TEST (for example: “health.plan-test”).
-
Adds all administrator users from the PROD environment as guest users (
) under the Administrators group of the newly created environment.
After you have created a new environment, you can
Environment Deletion/Deactivation
You cannot:
When you deactivate an environment, and the environment remains deactivated for 45 days, then after 45 days the environment can be deleted by Edifecs.
Service Subscriptions
While creating a new environment, you can subscribe to services for each environment. When you request subscription for a service which has already been subscribed for the Production environment, then Smart Trading Cloud automatically approves the request and the service is subscribed to your environment immediately. However, when you request subscription for a service that has not been subscribed for the Production environment, then the request is sent to Edifecs for approval. After Edifecs approves the request, the service is subscribed to your environment.
